Effective May 29, 2025, a Fire Restriction has been placed on Foothills County due to the current weather conditions.
From the Foothills County website:
The overall fire danger is increasing due to current and upcoming temperatures and wind speeds. Although green-up is occurring and the County has seen spots of rain, there are many areas of flammable, dead, and dry vegetation exposed.
We will continue to monitor moisture levels and fire risk throughout the County and may update the status as needed. Fire permits will not be issued for Class1 (10x10x5 and under) and Class 2 (10x10x5 and over) fires, and any outstanding permits will be cancelled.
Although this is not a Fire Ban, the County asks citizens to take caution and be extra vigilant when burning under what the Restriction allows for, while it is in effect. Soaking the area adjacent to the open fire pits with water is recommended. If conditions change, the County may impose a Fire Ban at any time. If a Fire Ban is imposed, residents must immediately and fully extinguish their fire and again all existing permits will become void and no new permits will be issued.
